Microsoft Releases Service Pack 1 for .NET Framework 2.0 and 3.0
Press Release
Last week, Microsoft quietly released .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 and
.NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1. I've got my development machine configured for
"Automatic Updates" so it got them automatically, but if your servers aren't
configured to install updates automatically, now might be a good time to check and
make sure you're up to date.
Here are the details on the two service packs:
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1
Size: 23.6 MB
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 1 provides cumulative roll-up updates for customer reported
issues found after the release of Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0. In addition, this release provides
security improvements, and prerequisite feature support for .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1, and
.NET Framework 3.5. After you install this item, you may have to restart your computer.
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 1 provides cumulative roll-up updates for customer reported issues found after the release of Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0. In addition, this release provides security improvements, and prerequisite feature support for Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5.
While .NET 3.0 SP1 seems to address only a handful of issues, the list of issues addressed by .NET 2.0 SP1,
goes on for several pages. I thought about counting the number of issues it addresses, but just the thought
of it made me dizzy. ;)
You can get the updates via your preferred method of updating Windows
(Automatic Updates, Windows Update, or Microsoft Update) or you can download and install them
directly from the Microsoft Download Center via the following links:
