ASP 101's Year in Review - A Look Back At 2003

As another year draws to a close, I find myself looking back at all that we've experienced. Here's a list of some of ASP 101's highlights from 2003.

• We ended 2002 with a very popular article on Index Server: Using Index Server to Search Your Web Site - Part I

• During the early months of 2003 we worked on building our library of ASP.NET Samples: ASP.NET Sample Index

• April brought us back to Index Server: Using Index Server to Search Your Web Site - Part II

• After which we tackled some more in depth ASP.NET coverage:

  • Iteration Performance of Numerical Libraries in .NET
  • A Look Behind .NET's System.String Type
  • Dynamic Form Elements with .NET (C#)

• The summer brought Windows Server 2003:

  • Windows Server 2003 & VS.NET 2003 Launch Event
  • What's New in Windows Server 2003 - IIS 6

  I didn't write much on it since little had changed where it related to ASP, but it's very presence in my office seemed to hog a good chunk of my time as I put it through it's paces.

• During a slow week in September I finally got off my butt and spent the time to upgrade my workstation and laptop to XP. When I went to publish my first article on the new setup I spent almost an entire day just trying to publish my already written article. The new OS simply would not cooperate. That article was: A Simple Method for Caching HTTP Requests

• The next week I had some time to reflect on the trivial problems of the week before. I would've loved to be able to use any computer at all: Hurricane Isabel Takes Its Toll on ASP 101

• The last few months brought some interesting news from Microsoft:

  • Some Very Early Information About ASP.NET 2.0
  • Microsoft's ASP to ASP.NET Migration Assistant

• and Google:

  • Working with Google APIs to Fetch Results using ASP
  • Using the Google APIs to Spell Check

• And all along the way our visitors kept sending in some very interesting code: Visitor's Contributions

And before I knew it December was here and everyone's focus turned to the snow and the holidays. Now the year is basically over and all that's left are the memories and the code. I guess it's time to start writing next year's code.
